TimeXtender On-Premise Integration

We will go through how to connect ExmonDG to TimeXtender on-premise

Things that we require before we begin:

  1. A Windows user that can open the TimeXtender application
  2. SQL access to the TimeXtender project repository database
    1. This can either be a SQL database user or the Windows user above that has Windows authentication to the project repository database

Create TimeXtender Data Provider

  1. Open ExmonDG Desktop.
    1. You can download it from the ExmonDG web environment. This can be done either through x.exmon.com/dg or login.exmon.com and selecting Exmon Data Governance which will redirect you to your web environment.
  2. On the left under Object Explorer expand General
  3. Right-click on Data Providers, select New... and give your Data Provider a name
  4. In Datasource Type select TimeXtender
  5. Type in your connection information
  6. Press Generate Connection String
  7. Press Test Connection to ensure it works

Sync Exmon with TimeXtender

When you have your TimeXtender Data Provider set up you can sync with TimeXtender

  1. Open your TimeXtender Data Provider
  2. Press Sync with Discovery Hub...
  3. You will get a popup with all Exmon systems and package folders
  4. In the popup select the system and execution connection you want
  5. Press OK
  6. Now all Execution packages within TimeXtender have been created as TimeXtender packages in Exmon

Create TimeXtender packages manually

  1. On the left under Object Explorer right-click Packages
  2. Select New... and TimeXtender and give your package a name
    1. It's a good habit to give your package the same/similar name as the Execution package you are about to connect the package to
  3. Now a UI opens up where you can connect your package to a TimeXtender Execution package
    1. Set Execution Connection as the server you want your package to run at
    2. Under Data Provider select the Data Provider you created above
    3. Now you can select the TimeXtender execution package you want your Exmon package to start
  4. When you have configured everything you can deploy your package and try running the package
